About Randy

I live and work in the Gateway to the Southwest.  As a native of Colorado, with ties to New Mexico and Texas, I am especially fond of the Four Corners area.   I love western themes, cactus flowers, mission churches, and the Rocky Mountains. Rock formations and red-rocks are among my favorite things to paint.

Prior to 2017, I primarily worked in watercolors.  I appreciated the way that watercolors essentially paint themselves for you. Since switching to oil paint, I’ve enjoyed finding ways to let the oils speak to me as an artist in a similar manner.

My work is currently hanging in galleries and homes around Colorado.  Much of my current work is available to be viewed at my sister's hair salon "Tracy's Place for Hair". She has been one of my biggest supporters.  In addition, I have art in the Blue Spruce Gallery in Florence and The Avenue Antiques and Art Gallery in Pueblo. I often have art hanging in the Bell Tower in Florence.

I am thrilled to do commission paintings, and am willing to attempt most any subject.  Prices are reasonable, and you will not be obligated, in most cases, to purchase the final painting unless you are fully satisfied.  I usually provide a mock-up of the final painting for pre-approval.  I am anxious for people to submit their favorite photos for me to consider as painting material.

My passion for painting extends into sharing that love with others.  I teach painting classes and parties.  (www.strokensip.com) One of my passions is helping others discover artistic potential they may not have known existed.  Painting with my seven-year-old niece is one of my favorite ways to spend a day.

Watercolor Art

While I don't focus on watercolor art at this stage in my Art journey, I still love to incorporate methods I learned into my oil paints.
